I have given many talks over the years, both with Mike Southon as one of ‘The Beermat Entrepreneurs’ and on my own, on topics as varied as entrepreneurship and modern China. I now give two talks.
The Ten Commandments of Small Business Marketing is aimed at new- and small-business owners, and outlines the basic marketing tools they need. Many small-business people see marketing as something expensive and corporate - but it does not have to be either of these things, and can make the difference between the success and failure of an enterprise. The Reluctant Entrepreneur is a talk for freelances and sole traders, people working for - or considering working for - themselves. I’ve worked for myself for twenty years, have (almost) always managed to pay the bills, and have stayed sane. But I am well aware of the pressures and challenges of this way of working. Especially in hard financial times, many people find themselves having to work this way, and are often ill prepared for it. This talk will show them everything they need to know to prosper and to enjoy what can be a challenging experience, both commercially and psychologically. Find out more
