The Ten Commandments of Small Business Marketing

Chris West learnt his marketing with mk Group, a Norwich-based agency that served clients of all sizes. In 2008, he published Marketing on a Beermat (Random House Business Books), which was described by the Chartered Institute of Marketing’s house magazine The Marketer as ‘packed with practical advice… perfect for any small business, start-up or entrepreneur.’

He now gives a talk for audiences of new and small business people called The Ten Commandments of Small Business Marketing.

As one would expect, the talk covers the basic concepts and marketing tools needed by entrepreneurs. While covering ‘basic’ ground, Chris presents his own personal slant on these topics. What is ‘the marketing mindset’ that all good marketers (and all good entrepreneurs) have? Is branding really that important? (Chris says the answer is often ‘no’ - so what matters more?) Is it a good thing to be a nerd? Audiences will find out the answers to these, and many other, questions.

“Chris’ talk was professional, original, informative and entertaining.”
Garry Mumford, Chairman, Bishops Stortford Business Breakfast Club

The talk usually lasts about half an hour, but can be shorter or longer if required. It is accompanied by a simple PowerPoint presentation, but this is optional if the venue is not suitable.
